In the Broadway production of Hamilton, the character of Aaron Burr songs a song called Wait for It. One of the lines in the song is, “I am the one thing in life I can control”. That, my friends, are what we call a truism of life. We don’t control the family we were born into. We don’t control other people’s actions, but we can control ourselves.
Today, we want to encourage you to fill your mind with happy thoughts.
You are truly the thing in life you can control. By directing your thoughts, you are in control of your life.
Choose to think positive, happy thoughts and reject negative thoughts because of the negative impact they can have on you.
Realize that controlling your thoughts is your responsibility. Only you determine the content of your thinking.
Our brain can generate random thoughts that are often negative. Start to notice when a negative thought appears and replace that thought with one that is positive. You have the power to refuse any thoughts that fail to serve you, your family or goals.
Think about the following reflective questions:
- Do I feel in control of my thoughts?
- Or do I feel that my thoughts are random and outside of my control?
- How can I practice controlling my thoughts?
It is important that you work daily on being the happiest person you can be. We know know that happy thoughts can lead us towards happiness, so choose your thoughts carefully.
Let today be the day you begin to take full control of your mind. Put the focus on being positive and take control of what is rightfully yours. Your happiness.
